- 175 gunsalted butter
- 250 gcaster sugar
- 200 gdark chocolate
- 75 gplain flour
- 40 gcocoa powder
- 1 tspbaking powder
- pinch of salt
- 1 tspvanilla extract
- 2eggs
- 100 gchopped walnuts(optional)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan. Grease and line a 20cm square baking tin.

Melt the butter and dark chocolate together in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, stirring until smooth.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until well combined.

Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder, and fold gently into the egg mixture until combined.

Pour the chocolate mixture over the egg mixture and stir until fully combined. If using walnuts, fold them in at this stage.

Pour the batter into the prepared tin, smooth the top, and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out with a few crumbs but is not wet.

Allow to cool completely in the tin before cutting into squares.
